Marshall Appointed to ABC Board
Law Firm Carolinas' Partner Adam Marshall has been appointed to the Greensboro ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) Board. The appointment was made by the Greensboro City Council at its May meeting. Marshall has previously served on the Human Relations Commission, Greensboro Criminal Justice Advisory Commission, Board of Adjustment, and is past Chair of the Greensboro Zoning Commission.
Meister & Slaughter Named to Pro Bono Honor Society
Law Firm Carolinas' Partners Emily Meister and Jim Slaughter have been named to the 2022 NC Pro Bono Honor Society list. The Pro Bono Honor Society recognizes attorneys who have contributed 50 hours or more of pro bono service in 2022. Pro bono work includes providing legal services with no (or reduced) fees to those of limited means or committee work or other participation in activities improving the law, legal system or profession.
Publisher's Weekly Selects Books as "Editor's Picks"
Partner Jim Slaughter's two recent books, Robert’s Rules of Order Fast Track and Notes and Comments on Robert’s Rules, Fifth Edition have been selected by Publisher’s Weekly as “Editor’s Picks,” which is a “book of outstanding quality.” The reviews can be found at Reviews are in for New Parliamentary Procedure Books! Both books are available at traditional and online bookstores, including Amazon, as well as electronically for Kindle.
Wilson Elected Chair of SC Legislative Action Committee
Law Firm Carolinas Partner David Wilson has been elected Chair of the South Carolina Legislative Action Committee (SC LAC). The SC LAC is a committee of the Community Associations Institute that monitors and influences legislation that impacts community associations, and its members talk with legislators on issues of concern to HOAs and condos.

Adam Marshall Named Partner at Law Firm Carolinas
Attorney Adam Marshal has been named a partner at Law Firm Carolinas, which has six offices throughout North and South Carolina. His practice includes community association (HOA and condo) law as well as land use, zoning and planning issues before the Board of Adjustment and Zoning Commission.
Jim Slaughter Recognized for Pro Bono Service
Attorney Jim Slaughter was recently recognized by the Greensboro Bar Association for his pro bono work by being named to the Herb Falk Society. The Herb Falk Society honors Bar members who have performed 75 hours or more of pro bono service hours during the year, which includes free or reduced legal services to clients and activities to improve the legal profession. This is Jim’s 7th year of recognition. His is pictured here with Judge Teresa Vincent, 2019 President of the Greensboro Bar Association.

Jim Slaughter Leads State Community Associations Institute
Jim Slaughter, a partner in the law firm of Black, Slaughter & Black, has been elected President of the North Carolina Chapter of the Community Associations Institute. CAI provides resources, education, credentialing and advocacy for homeowner and condominium associations and the professionals who support them. The NC-CAI Chapter is composed of association board members and other homeowner leaders, community managers, association management firms and other professionals who provide products and services to associations.
